Welcome back from Easter Break!

Welcome back, Vikings! There are many enriching, fun things planned for these next few weeks after Easter Break!

All this week we will have Honors Project presentations for students who participated in the Trimester 2 Honors Project. This year's Honors Project involved the creation of a unique culture and planning and designing everything from their location to their language to their pledge of allegiance. Students worked very hard on this project and they will be displayed in the 6th grade room all month.

6th and 7th grade are both in the middle of play projects during class. Each student has written a play (6th graders each wrote their own myth in the style of the ancient Greeks; 7th graders each wrote their own drama about a scandal of the European Middle Ages, Renaissance, Reformation or Scientific Revolution) and one will be selected for each class to perform together. Performances will take place in May.

8th grade is completing a religion project called the Witness Project, in which each student has written a story about another student and how he/she lives his/her life as a true "witness" to Jesus Christ. In class, we discussed how "acting as a witness" to Christ means to live one's life as he would want us to. Each story comes complete with the students portrait on the cover of Witness Magazine as their Person of the Year.

All three grades will be beginning the Family Life portion of the Religion curriculum soon. All students will need to bring in a permission slip in order to participate, as the curriculum does include content on human sexuality. Participation is strongly encouraged as the content is not overly explicit or graphic and is taught solely for the purpose of informing students of age-appropriate content in a safe environment.

As always, thank you very much for your involvement.

Blessings,
Ms. Abel
